Blackboard Request Forms
This request form is designed for special Blackboard requests that require manual administration activities such as merging courses, creating non-academic courses, developing content, and requesting department course evaluations. Refer to the appropriate link on the left-hand side of this form.
All special requests must be made through this Special Request form. Contact Instructional Innovation & Quality, learning@nmsu.edu, if you have questions concerning this process.
Cross-Listed Courses
Cross-Listed courses are academic courses that are automatically created at the start of each semester. These courses are recognized as cross-listed by the registrar’s office.
Merged Sections
A merged course is defined as any academic course that is combined with other courses. When courses are merged, associated rosters are populated in one Blackboard course.
Non-Academic Courses
Non-Academic courses are those web courses that are not identified as an academic course by the registrar’s office. The following are common non-academic courses in our learning management system: NMSU affiliated programs, NMSU communities, and group organizations. Non-Academic courses are deleted at the end of the academic year.
Development Courses
Instructors request development courses to build and design their curriculum for their web courses. These courses are never available to students. These courses are copied into the Blackboard courses that are automatically created each semester.
Departmental Evaluations
Department evaluations can be requested that result in the merging of multiple rosters into one course. To maintain anonymity, a Department Administrative Assistant usually administers these evaluations.
Guest Accounts
The Blackboard guest account process is now in place. The three step process will help safeguard student records while allowing non-NMSU individuals access to Blackboard. The steps include:
1. All users access Blackboard will need to complete the FERPA training.
The training is at http://ict.nmsu.edu/~training/ferpaTutorial/01_NMSU_FERPA.html .
(Upon completion of the training, the individual will receive a certificate of completion and an email will be automatically generated and sent to Blackboard administration. After clicking on the Print Certificate Button, a NMSU login screen appears, there is a link at the bottom of the screen for guests to complete the process. The training will take approximately 15 min to complete.)
2. An email with two administrators or their appointed representatives approving the guest account must be sent to learning@nmsu.edu.
3. The Blackboard Guest Account Request form must be completed and submitted.
